• If your employee feels that their health has improved or become worse, they can request a reassessment themselves.
  • If the occupational physician ('bedrijfsarts') indicates that your employee's ability to return to work has changed, you can request a reassessment.
  • If you are self-insured ('eigenrisicodrager') an authorised organisation can request a reassessment on your behalf.

Please note: You are not allowed to submit the medical information yourself. This is to protect the employee’s privacy. Please ask the UWV physician (‘verzekeringsarts’) or occupational health physician to send it to us.

The medical information must be sent no later than 1 day after you request a WIA benefit reassessment (In Dutch). Mark the envelope as ‘private and confidential’ by writing ‘Medisch geheim WIA’ on it.

Depending on the information we receive about your employee's health, we will decide whether a WIA benefit reassessment is needed. If we think the changes in your employee's health will affect their ability to work, they will be reassessed.

After the application, the employee will receive a decision within 8 weeks. You will receive a copy of this letter.

If you disagree with our decision, note the deadline for lodging an objection stated in the letter. Please call the UWV Employer's helpline and keep your payroll tax number (‘loonheffingennummer’) close at hand so that we can help you quickly.

If your employee is temporarily 80-100% unfit for work due to medical reasons, the UWV physician will set a date for us to review your employee's situation. We do this through questionnaire and interview. As long as your employee's medical situation stays the same, we will keep in regular contact.

Please note: In this case, you do not need to request a WIA benefit reassessment for your employee as we will already be aware of their situation. If your employee’s situation does change, we will make an appointment with your employee for a reassessment.

You will always receive a copy of the letters we send your employee, whether their situation changes or not.
