Your IOW benefit will start once your unemployment benefit or salary-linked WGA benefit reaches its maximum duration. You will continue to receive the IOW benefit until you reach the state pension age. After that, you will generally receive the state pension ('AOW'), which is paid by the SVB (‘Sociale Verzekeringsbank’).

While you are receiving an IOW benefit, your obligations are the same as those you had while receiving your unemployment benefit or salary-linked WGA benefit. Read more about your obligations while receiving an unemployment benefit.

Make sure you inform us of any changes in your circumstances or income on time. If you are taking part in the income reporting pilot (‘proef met het doorgeven van inkomsten’), you must report your income to us each month using the Report your monthly earnings ('Inkomstenopgave') form.

If you moved to an IOW benefit after an unemployment benefit and took part in the job search requirement study ('onderzoek naar de sollicitatieplicht'), your part in that study will end automatically. The normal job search requirement rules apply while you are receiving an IOW benefit.

If you become ill while you are receiving an IOW benefit, you must let us know by calling us. You will continue to receive your IOW benefit during your illness. Once you have recovered, you must inform us within 48 hours using the Report your recovery ('Betermelder') button on Mijn UWV. You can also call us.

If you do not report that you are ill or that you have recovered, this may affect your benefit.
