Employers apply through the 'Report an absence' feature ('Verzuimmelder') on the employer portal ('werkgeversportaal') or through Digipoort, selecting 'WAZO-verlof'.
If employers are unable to apply online, they can use the paper form Apply for WAZO pay ('Aanvragen WAZO-uitkering').
Employees should let their employer know that they would like to take additional partner's leave. If their employer is unable or unwilling to apply, they can contact us.
The employer applies after the baby is born and confirms that the employee has taken 1 working week of standard leave ('standaard geboorteverlof') within 1 month of the birth.
The application covers the total number of weeks of leave that the employee is taking, within 6 months of the birth. This applies even if the leave is taken at different times.
If the employer applies after the leave has ended, we will only pay for the period that falls within 1 year before we received the application.
We will make a decision within 4 weeks of receiving the complete application. Employees receive the decision through Mijn UWV. Employers receive a copy through the employer portal. Once the application is approved, we will pay the additional partner's leave.
Directors and majority shareholders, and those who provide housekeeping services or offer private home help apply for additional partner's leave in a different way.
