How you report a change depends on whether you are receiving your UWV top-up benefit alongside another benefit from UWV.
If you are receiving an UWV top-up benefit alongside another benefit
If you are receiving a top-up benefit alongside another benefit from us, please continue to report changes and your monthly income as you normally do. Visit one of the pages below to find out more about how to report a change when receiving 1 of the following benefits:
To report your monthly income, please use the Reporting your monthly earnings form.
If you are only receiving an UWV top-up benefit, please use the Change of circumstances form while receiving a sickness benefit or top-up benefit (‘Wijzigingen doorgeven als u een Ziektewet-uitkering of toeslag van UWV heeft’) to report your changes.
Receiving an UWV top-up benefit means you need to report more changes than if you were only receiving a benefit. In addition to changes to your personal information or income, you must also report changes in your living situation and your partner’s income.
Your living situation
Examples of changes in your living situation include:
- You start or stop living with a partner.
- You get married, enter a civil partnership (‘geregistreerd partnerschap’), or get divorced or separated.
- You start sharing your home with someone aged 27 or older who is not your partner.
- Your child turns 12. This only affects your living situation if you live with a partner who was born after 31 December 1971.
Your and your partner’s income
If you are receiving an UWV top-up benefit, you must report almost all types of income that you and your partner have. This includes not only earnings from work but also other benefits, all types of pension and student finance (‘studiefinanciering’).
You do not have to report the following types of income:
- child maintenance and partner maintenance (‘alimentatie’)
- a rent top-up benefit (‘huurtoeslag’), a healthcare top-up benefit (‘zorgtoeslag’) or a childcare top-up benefit (‘kinderopvangtoeslag’)
- a personal budget (‘persoonsgebonden budget, pgb’) that you are receiving to pay for care
- a social assistance benefit (‘bijstandsuitkering’) from your local council (‘gemeente’)
- savings or capital (‘vermogen’)
- compensation for breach of the renewal or termination notice obligation (‘aanzegvergoeding’), severance pay (‘ontslagvergoeding’), or pay for redundancy or dismissal (‘transitievergoeding’)
- a tax-free gift (‘belastingvrije schenking’)
- travel expenses (‘reiskostenvergoeding’) or telephone expenses (‘telefoonvergoeding’)
- an inheritance (‘erfenis’)
- a tax refund from the Tax Administration (‘de Belastingdienst’) after filing your income tax return (‘aangifte inkomstenbelasting’)
- the benefit you are receiving from UWV
Other types of income not included in this list should always be reported to us. This allows us to review whether the income affects your top-up benefit.
Personal information
Keep us informed of any changes to your personal information, such as a change to your bank account number, or if you are moving abroad. For more information, please visit Changing your information (in Dutch, ‘Persoonlijke gegevens wijzigen’).
When in doubt
If you are unsure whether to report certain information, please contact us.
Changes to your living situation or income might affect your top-up benefit, so it is important that you keep us informed. This helps prevent you from receiving a top-up benefit that is too low, or from having to pay us back (in Dutch, ‘Terugbetalen aan UWV’) if you have received too much.
