Brexit

As from 1 January 2021, the rules and agreements for EU/EEA countries no longer apply to the United Kingdom. This has consequences for British people who work or will commence work in the Netherlands. If you received a benefit from the UWV Employee Insurance Agency before 1 January 2021 and live in the United Kingdom, nothing will change as long as you observe all other benefits requirements.

On 24 December 2020, the European Union and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement. This agreement contains the decisions about the rules that will apply as from 1 January 2021. As yet, it is still unknown what this agreement means in exact detail. It is uncertain, for example, what will happen if you move to the United Kingdom while receiving a benefit from the UWV. Or if you move to the United Kingdom and have worked in the Netherlands. As soon as more details become available, we will update the information on this website.
