Guus van Weelden has been a member of the Executive Board of UWV since September 1, 2018.
Guus van Weelden was born in Rotterdam in 1959. He studied Business Economics at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and he obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration from Delft University of Technology. Since then, Van Weelden has followed various courses in management studies. Van Weelden started his career in 1983 at the Amsterdam Healthcare Foundation as deputy executive secretary. In 1984 he started at Akkers Health Center as manager. Having worked there for four years, he subsequently became general director at a homecare center ‘Nieuwe Waterweg-Noord’, located in Rotterdam. Van Weelden held the position of director at the mental disabled care institution ‘Compaan’ in The Hague from 1998 until 2001. From 2001 onwards, he worked at the ‘Haagse Stichting Katholieke Verplegings- en Verzorgingsinstellingen’ (KVV), a nursing institution in The Hague. Van Weelden acted as director and later as CEO. In 2009 he became CEO of mental health care institution GGz Breburg, which is located in Tilburg. Throughout his career, Guus van Weelden showed a consistent interest in labour issues in the health care sector, by participating in various representative organizations. From 2008 till 2017 he was a member of the administrative board of Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn (PFZW), a healthcare retirement fund.
