The earliest you can apply for an IOW benefit is up to 5 weeks before your unemployment benefit ends. To do this, log onto Mijn UWV with your DigiD account so that you can access the ‘IOW application form’. Make sure you have a summary of your total income close to hand as you will need this information when completing the form.

We will send you an ‘IOW application form’ if you are entitled to an IOW benefit after your WGA benefit. If you haven’t received this form, please contact UWV Telefoon Werknemers (the UWV employee helpline). Keep your citizen service number close to hand when calling us so that we are able to help you quickly and efficiently.

You will receive a decision about your application within 8 weeks of sending us the form.
