If you are going on holiday abroad, you must report this to us at least 2 weeks before you leave by completing the Reporting a change if you are on a sickness benefit or top-up benefit form (‘Wijzigingen doorgeven als u een Ziektewet-uitkering en/of toeslag van UWV heeft’). You will need to log in to Mijn UWV to do this.

You can use the same form to report a change to the following situations:

  • If you are living or staying abroad and you are taking your holiday from there.
  • If your travel dates change. For example, tell us if the dates are different or if your holiday is shorter or longer than originally planned.

If you take a holiday in the Netherlands while you are receiving a sickness benefit, you do not need to report this to us. Make sure that you remain reachable as we might still need to contact you by phone or send you letters. Have someone check your post for you, or give us your holiday address as a postal address by using the Reporting a change if you are on a sickness benefit or top-up benefit form.

If you are returning to work and are required to look and apply for jobs (‘sollicitatieplicht’), discuss your holiday plans first with your UWV employment adviser (‘adviseur werk’) or return-to-work counsellor (‘re-integratiebegeleider’). You may both agree that you do not have to meet the job search requirement while you are on holiday. This is possible for a maximum of 4 weeks per year.
