For most benefits, we pay your holiday pay in May. The exact payment date depends on the type of benefit you are receiving.

Unemployment benefit or IOW benefit

If you are receiving an unemployment benefit or an IOW benefit, your holiday pay is usually paid on a different day from your benefit.

Occupational disability benefit

If you are receiving an occupational disability benefit, your holiday pay is paid in May, at the same time as your benefit.

Sickness benefit or WAZO benefit

If you are receiving a sickness benefit (‘Ziektewet-uitkering’) or a WAZO benefit, your holiday pay is already included in your benefit payments. This means you do not receive holiday pay once a year as a separate amount.

UWV insolvency benefit

If you are receiving a benefit because your employer is insolvent and they can no longer pay your wages (‘uitkering wegens betalingsonmacht’), you will only receive holiday pay if you were still entitled to it from your employer. We will pay your holiday pay within 26 weeks after your application

If your benefit ends, you will automatically receive any holiday pay you are still entitled to. You do not need to do anything. We will pay this within 1 month of your benefit ending.

Your holiday pay is 8% of your gross benefit. We deduct tax withheld from your benefit (‘loonbelasting’) and contributions (‘premies’) from this amount. The net amount that remains is paid into your bank account.

You can see the exact amount of holiday pay on your payment specification (‘betaalspecificatie’). This will be available in Mijn UWV, right before we pay your holiday pay.
