If your employee has become ill, and if it is not clear how long this illness will last, you and your employee must start a rehabilitation programme, for you must do everything in your power to help your employee return to work. You must be able to prove you have done so by submitting the rehabilitation report once your employee applies for the invalidity benefit. 

If your employee has been ill for 42 weeks, you notify UWV of a long-term illness.
